Why is it no one is ever offended when someone flies the American flag? After all, slavery existed under that flag for 89 years (1776-1865) and under the Confederate flag for only four (1861-1865).
But I guess you can't please everyone -- especially when so many people seem to go out of their way to be offended by just about anything.

I am getting tired of this crap. Firstly, I am tired of Southerners trying to convince the enemy that the flag is not "racist." For starters, nothing you say will convince them that such is the case and besides, the issue here is not fundamentally about whether or not the flag is "racist." The issue here concerns the right of an individual to fly a flag on his or her private property.
Unfortunately, freedom of speech or freedom of anything seems to be a thing of the past here in the good ole' USS of A.
Moreover, I am tired of convincing Yankee carpetbaggers and Yankees who come to south to build their summer homes that the flag is not "racist" or does not represent an ideology belonging to the "ism" of the week. I no longer care what they think and if flying a Confederate flag will cause them to go back up north, then I'll fly thousands. I am tired of living amongst these people. I can't stand their values, I can't stand their manners, and I generally cannot find anything agreeable about them.
Deo Vindice!
