If leaving one's car idling unattended is some manner of crime or offense, where's the victim?

Or is it maybe an issue of being an attractive nuisance or danger, kind of like not having a fence around one's pool?Frankhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06989427631003371881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5244623.post-61383693020807745082007-09-28T10:45:00.000-05:002007-09-28T10:45:00.000-05:00In some states, it is illegal to leave your car ru...In some states, it is illegal to leave your car running unattended. (That can be annoying here in Minnesota on those days when the mercury dips below zero!) And that might be true in almost all states when it comes to places like gas stations.

But I can't tell you how many times I've seen unattended cop cars left running. I've seen them idling on street corners while the officer performs other duties (directing traffic, crowd control, etc.). I've seen them idling along the curb in front of people's houses. I've even seen them idling in store and restaurant parking lots.Lee Sheltonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11254842261338255019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5244623.post-45339756121861287562007-09-28T10:23:00.000-05:002007-09-28T10:23:00.000-05:00... with tongue planted VERY FIRMLY in cheek, eh? ...... with tongue planted VERY FIRMLY in cheek, eh? Good post.

But a question:

"If a cop leaves his car running while he runs into the drug store, don't dwell on the fact that you would get a ticket for doing the same thing."

Really? I've never heard of such a thing.
